Dubai Customs on Track to Achieve D33 with 7 Million Transactions in Q1 2023

Dubai Customs has recorded a remarkable increase in customs transactions, reaching a record of 7 million transactions in the first quarter of 2023. This milestone is part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative aims to double Dubai’s economy over the next decade, and establish it as one of the world’s top three economic cities. The increase in transactions is attributed to Dubai Customs’ smart services and projects, which automate customs procedures and enhance business operations, attracting more investments and companies in the commercial sector.

Dubai Customs’ Smart Services Driving Dubai’s Growth as a Global Business and Trade Hub

In the first quarter of 2023, Dubai Customs continued its efforts to combat counterfeit goods and protect intellectual property rights. The government department handled 112 cases of intellectual property disputes involving 9.6 million counterfeit goods with a total value of AED 28.85 million. Additionally, the department organized recycling operations for counterfeit goods, completing 24 recycling processes involving 43.78 thousand counterfeit goods. Dubai Customs also conducted three awareness campaigns to raise awareness about the dangers and negative impacts of counterfeit goods.

Intensified Efforts to Combat Counterfeit Goods and Protect Intellectual Property Rights

Dubai Customs is committed to promoting a culture of innovation in customs work, and has been recognized for its efforts by honoring 25 creative employees with disabilities for their innovative ideas and solutions presented during the Innovation Month. The department has also conducted over 740 training courses, both in-person and online, covering a diverse range of topics to provide the best work environment for its employees.

Dubai Customs’ efforts have not only contributed to an attractive investment environment, but also enhanced the country’s position as a leading global business and trade hub. The department has made 502 seizure reports in the first quarter of 2023, as part of its commitment to protecting the community and the economy and promoting security and stability.
